How to Enable ActiveX Control in Internet Explorer
ActiveX controls are a key component of the Internet Explorer web browser, allowing users to interact with various applications and content directly within the browser. However, due to security concerns, ActiveX controls are disabled by default. If you need to enable ActiveX control in Internet Explorer, follow these simple steps to ensure a smooth and secure browsing experience.
Step 1: Open Internet Explorer
First, launch Internet Explorer on your computer. If you are using an older version of Internet Explorer, you may need to update the browser to the latest version to ensure compatibility with ActiveX controls.
Step 2: Access Internet Options
Next, click on the gear icon located in the upper-right corner of the browser window. This will open the Tools menu. From the menu, select “Internet Options” to open the Internet Options dialog box.
Step 3: Navigate to the Security Tab
In the Internet Options dialog box, click on the “Security” tab. This tab allows you to manage the security settings for different zones in Internet Explorer, such as the Internet zone, Local Intranet zone, and Trusted Sites zone.
Step 4: Select the Internet Zone
Under the Security tab, click on the “Internet” zone. This zone contains the settings for websites that are not in the Local Intranet or Trusted Sites zones.
Step 5: Click on “Custom Level…”
On the Internet zone settings page, scroll down to the “ActiveX controls and plug-ins” section. Click on the “Custom Level…” button to open the Security Settings dialog box for ActiveX controls and plug-ins.
Step 6: Enable ActiveX Controls
In the Security Settings dialog box, scroll through the list of settings until you find “Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins.” Select “Enable” from the dropdown menu to allow ActiveX controls to run on websites.
Step 7: Apply and Close
After enabling ActiveX controls, click “OK” to apply the changes. Then, click “OK” again on the Internet Options dialog box to close it. You may need to restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.
By following these steps, you can successfully enable ActiveX control in Internet Explorer. However, it is important to note that enabling ActiveX controls can pose security risks, as malicious websites may attempt to exploit these controls.
