How to Elevate a Discord User to Owner Status- A Step-by-Step Guide

How to Promote Someone to Owner on Discord

Discord has become a popular platform for communities, teams, and groups to connect and communicate. As a Discord server grows, it becomes necessary to delegate responsibilities and promote trusted members to higher roles. One such role is the owner, who has complete control over the server and its settings. If you want to promote someone to owner on Discord, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process.

Step 1: Log in to Discord

Before you begin, make sure you are logged in to Discord with an account that has the necessary permissions to promote members. If you don’t have access to the server settings, you won’t be able to promote someone to owner.

Step 2: Navigate to Server Settings

Open the Discord app or website, and click on the server you want to manage. Then, click on the server name at the top left corner to open the server settings menu. Select “Server Settings” from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Go to Roles

In the server settings, you’ll see a list of options on the left-hand side. Click on “Roles” to view the roles and permissions on your server.

Step 4: Find the Owner Role

Scroll through the list of roles until you find the owner role. The owner role is typically indicated by a crown icon next to the role name.

Step 5: Click on the Owner Role

Once you’ve found the owner role, click on it to open the role settings.

Step 6: Add the Member

In the role settings, you’ll see a list of members who currently have this role. To promote a new member, click on the “Add Member” button at the bottom of the list. Type the name of the member you want to promote in the search bar and select them from the list of results.

Step 7: Save Changes

After adding the member to the owner role, click the “Save Changes” button at the bottom of the page. Discord will update the server settings, and the member will now have owner privileges.

Step 8: Confirm the Promotion

To ensure that the promotion was successful, log out of your account and log back in as the newly promoted owner. You should now have full control over the server and its settings.

Remember that promoting someone to owner on Discord is a significant responsibility. Make sure the person you’re promoting is trustworthy and capable of handling the power that comes with the role. As an owner, they’ll have the ability to delete messages, kick members, and modify server settings, so it’s important to choose wisely.
